Space For Inspiration

The Short of It

  • Worlds' first commercial space terminal opens.
  • Will be home to Virgin Galactic's WhiteKnight Two and SpaceShip Two.
  • Price tag of $200,000 still a bit hefty.

Last month, we celebrated a unique milestone in the opening of the world’s first commercial space terminal - yes, a place for spaceships. Spaceport America, which will be home to Virgin Galatic’s WhiteKnightTwo and SpaceShipTwo vehicles, is located in New Mexico and lays claim to a design that aims to “articulate the thrill of space travel for the first space tourists while making a minimal impact on the environment.”

While the $200,000 price tag is a bit hefty, and will most certainly put the trip out of the reach of many, the inspiration derived from seeing this program come to life, even at a distance, is absolutely free. Like the line from Master and Commander, these moments remind us of the  "... fascinating modern age we live in." They remind us that the world, and I guess you'd have to say universe now, is still filled with such amazing opportunities for wonder and possibility.

What a great way to start the week.
